Known fact: You can't have a wine region without the ability to grow a good grape. And wouldn't you know it...the farming area on the Cape nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay is just that. |
You can call it the "garden" portion of the Garden State. Well draining, sandy soils and a moderated maritime climate comparable to the legendary Bordeaux(!) provide the ideal "terroir" to ripen off old-school vitis vinifira grapes. Translation: world class wine is being produced right off the beaches of Ocean City, Sea Isle, Avalon, Stone Harbor, Wildwood and Cape May!
